My Nightingale + Rosie Burgess Trio

My Nightingale

My Nightingale are releasing their debut EP “Folk Tales” with a national tour and will be performing at The Retreat Hotel. We will be supported by awesome Melbourne outfit Rosie Burgess Trio

Featuring the incredibly versatile vocals and songs of award-winning songstress Elly Hoyt, playing guitar and ukelele; My Nightingale explore the natural world and the themes that run through life's experience. Elly is joined by Rebecca Karlen on violin, Beck Flatt on drums and Helen Svoboda on double bass.

With diverse musical backgrounds and stories, these talented musicians and singers bring to the stage soul soothing tunes with luscious vocal harmonies, layers of beautiful strings and groovy folk rhythms.

My Nightingale recently joined the line-up of the Queensland Music Festival's "Immersion" series with Katie Noonan, Deborah Conway, All Our Exes Live in Texas, Montaigne and others. They have performed at Palm Creek Folk Festival, Sunshine Coast Ukelele Festival, the Brisbane City Hall Concert Series and City Sounds Concerts.

Rosie Burgess Trio

Running a grassroots independent record label, touring nationally, recording a new album and working on two musical projects might seem a lot to some, but to Rosie Burgess being busily up to her ears in the music scene comes as naturally as breathing.

With the award of a Victoria Rocks Touring Grant in Jan 2008 having propelled her around Australia on national tour, Rosie Burgess has emerged onto the Australian music scene to firmly secure a place for herself and her unique brand of urban folkroots music. Playing straight from the heart, Burgess consistently shows us why she is being called "one of our country's best rising stars" [Coastfest 2008, NSW].

The release of her album, Humble Pie [MGM/PSR], last year saw Burgess's music hit the national stage, and with radio showing great support for the album, especially Triple J, it has been an exciting time for this passionate musician. With her the release of her highly anticipated, brand new studio album [MGM / PSR], "wait for the World", Burgess is set to raise the bar again.

"When you have heard Rosie perform, you're sure to be tongue-tied trying to tell people how good she is..." says Dave Ritter, organiser of the Bruthen Festival of Blues and Arts.

At festivals and major venues across Australia, Burgess has had the pleasure of playing along side some of Australia's finest musicians, including Ash Grunwald, Mia Dyson, Bill Chambers, Chris Wilson, Deborah Conway and Blue King Brown. With her quirky and original tunes, Rosie Burgess is captivating audiences wherever she goes. She brings both her love of music, and her engaging sense of humor to the stage, securing a growing fan base of acoustic roots and folk lovers around the globe. Currently playing in a trio featuring Sam Lohs, from Fruit, on drums and Tim Bennett on bass, this is a performance not to be missed!
